Practice Areas
We are committed to provide our clients with practical engineering solutions that
are easy to comprehend and implement. Our focus is on seeking out solutions that capture our clients’ visions, and ultimately, solutions that work. |
Earthquake EngineeringThe key performance requirement for many essential industrial facilities consists of limited structural damages that allow them to remain operating following a large earthquake. We help owners go beyond prescriptive specifications and codes that aim towards protecting their facilities against collapse in an extreme event only.
Using our experience and knowledge in seismic design, we develop solutions tailored to each application and structural system. We provide earthquake engineering services in several areas, ranging from infrastructure and industrial buildings, to heavy equipment and non-structural components, with the ultimate goal of reducing the seismic risks to acceptable levels. |
Structural DesignThe goal of many earthquake force resisting designs is to ensure that a structural system can withstand a given level of ground motion while maintaining a desired level of performance. Our services include designs for new structures and for expansions and retrofits, including specialty areas such as: bulk material handling facilities, metal silos and bins, foundations of vibratory equipment, ductwork supports, and so on. We also design and detail steel connections
to different standards (AISC 360, AISC 341, AS 4100, API 650, API 620, NCH2369, etc.) Structural AuditsWe provide independent, unbiased structural audits for a wide variety of structural designs. The independent audit may result in reassurance about the adequacy of a design, or otherwise detect issues that need to be addressed.

Structural and Vibration AssessmentsWe diagnose potential structural issues that may affect a variety of structures in diverse exposure conditions. We also work with a wide range of structural systems to repair, rehabilitate, modify or strengthen existing structures. We can help our clients determine causes of failure, distress, excessive deflections, vibration problems or fatigue.
We provide short-term monitoring of structure movements to account for equipment health, geometry, settlement, structural condition and loads. We develop experimentally verified models in situations where more accurate interpretations and predictions of the behaviour of dynamic systems is needed. Through the use of inertial measurement units (IMU), testing and computer techniques, we determine mode shapes, fundamental frequencies and, to some extent, the critical damping ratio of a dynamic system. |
